Hildesheim Cathedral Museum

The Cathedral Museum is located in historic rooms around the cloister of Hildesheim Cathedral. The museum is the cathedral treasury and diocesan museum of the diocese of Hildesheim. It combines history and the present in a unique way. The exhibition features high-ranking exhibits on important topics from the history and culture of the cathedral, city and diocese.

The works of medieval art belonging to the World Heritage Site take centre stage. These include, above all, objects associated with the memory of the Hildesheim bishops Bernward and Godehard. Works by contemporary artists, including Arnulf Rainer, Gerd Winner and Emil Cimiotti, are juxtaposed with the historical artworks in an exciting dialogue.

Access to the Cathedral Museum is via the Cathedral Foyer, which is directly adjacent to Hildesheim Cathedral.
